This series was inspired by interest in the theme of duality. Throughout the reimagination of all twelve zodiac signs, I sought to incorporate this element in a multitude of ways, trying to consider how a zodiac animal might be mutated and changed to incorporate its conjoined twin. In some this duality is handled straightforwardly, in others it's even more deeply ingrained.
In the cases of some of the zodiacs that were originally things other than animals, I drew upon Greek mythology to inspire me in my selection of each respective animal, in an attempt to find the most suitable creature for the task.
This print series was created through the printmaking technique of linoprinting. The original plate was a rubber-lino plate that I carved the image out of, and then, using oil-based printmaking ink, was ultimately handprinted onto Hahnemuhle paper.
